Search for Homicide Suspect Leads to Arrest

Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has re-arrested 24 year-old Frederick Lawrence Scott after he was accidentally released on bond earlier this month.  Scott was originally arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred on March 4, 2011 in Edmonston, Maryland.
Scott was taken into custody after appearing for a bond review hearing this morning, accompanied by his attorney, at the Prince George’s County Courthouse in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  He has been remanded to the Department of Corrections on a $500,000 bond.
On March 4, 2011, at approximately 1:04 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 4700 block of Kenilworth Avenue for a report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, patrol officers found 30 year old Phillip Watson, of the 4300 block of Varnum Place, S.E., Washington, D.C., suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body.  He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Through the course of their investigation, detectives identified 24-year-old Fredrick Lawrence Scott, of the 1900 block of Oliver Street, Chillum, Maryland, as a suspect in this case, and obtained a First Degree Murder warrant for him.  Scott was arrested on May 5, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was extradited to Prince George’s County.  Initially, Scott was remanded to the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.  Due to what appears to be a clerical error, Scott was later given a $75,000 bond and released from the Department of Corrections after the bond was posted.  Realizing the error, the court issued a bench warrant for Scott on November 18, 2011.
