Police Seek Information in Residential Robbery of Elderly Woman in Suitland

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit is investigating a residential strong armed robbery in which an elderly woman was assaulted inside her home in Suitland, Maryland.

 On February 2, 2012, at approximately 3:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 4400 block of Arnold Road for a reported burglary. When officers arrived, they found an 84 year-old woman with multiple injuries sustained during a robbery at her home.  The victim advised that on February 1, 2012, an unknown man knocked on her door, posing as a neighbor.  As the woman answered the door, the suspect forced his way into her home and physically assaulted the victim.  After the assault, the suspect took money from her purse and fled the scene.

The injured victim remained on the floor of her home until a neighbor saw her door ajar and notified authorities.   Fire/EMS personnel treated the victim on scene for minor injuries. 

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-30 years of age, around 6’ tall, with a muscular build and wearing all dark clothing.  The suspect may have sustained an injured finger or hand during the assault.
