PGPD Chief Magaw Provides Update in Murder of Charles Walker, Jr.

Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw today shared several developments in the murder investigation of 15 year-old Charles Michael Walker, Jr.  He also offered his condolences to the teen’s family.

Chief Magaw said since the murder, Prince George’s County Police detectives have worked tirelessly to develop suspects and a motive in this case.   The investigation reveals the motive is robbery involving a pair of shoes that the victim carried in a shopping bag.  The Chief said he anticipates this case will close.

Chief Magaw added, “When a senseless act of violence takes a young person’s life, this police department and our community grieve. And when five high school students are killed within the 2012-13 school year, we all demand both justice and an accounting on the circumstances that give rise to juvenile violence.”

Detectives have received multiple tips from the community about this case.  We encourage others to come forward.  Anyone with information on this murder is urged to contact the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
