Detectives Arrest Suspect in Seat Pleasant Homicide

The Homicide Unit has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in Seat Pleasant on August 17th. The suspect is 30-year-old Master Matthew-Wayne Thomas of the 6600 block of Drylog Street in Capitol Heights. He’s charged with fatally shooting 37-year-old Oscar Colindres Garcia of Joplin Street in Seat Pleasant.

On August 17th, at about 11:50 pm, officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department were called to the 7200 block of Joplin Street for a shooting. Officers found the victim in his car outside of his home suffering from a gunshot wound. He died several hours later.

The preliminary investigation reveals the motive in this case was robbery.

Thomas is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the DC Department of Corrections pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
