PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Glenarden

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Glenarden involving a single car. The victim is 40-year-old Niambi Sumbry of Dellwood Court in Glenarden.

On July 23rd,  at about 3:45 am, patrol officers were called to Martin Luther King Jr. Highway at Glenarden Parkway for the report of a crash.

The preliminary investigation reveals Sumbry was heading eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway when for reasons which remain under investigation, she lost control of her car and ultimately struck a guardrail. She was pronounced dead on the scene. There was a juvenile passenger in the car who was taken to a hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.
