Detectives to Canvass Bladensburg Neighborhood in 2016 Homicide


This evening, Homicide Unit detectives will canvass a Bladensburg neighborhood in their investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in November of 2016. The victim is 28-year-old Karl Anthony Sellers of Oak Street in Cheverly.

On November 14th, 2016, at about 10:30 pm, officers with the Bladensburg Police Department were called to the 5000 block of 57th Avenue to help a man with a suspected medical emergency. The officers found the victim inside of an apartment building and discovered he was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives continue to actively investigate this fatal shooting and are working to establish a motive and identify suspect(s).

The canvass is scheduled for 6:00 pm today and will begin in the 5000 block of 57th Avenue. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their names.
