PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in District Heights that occurred on Sunday evening.

The pedestrian killed is 57 year old Lorraine Lawrence of District Heights.

At 6:22pm on November 19th, patrol officers were called to the 6000 block of Druid Place in District Heights for a collision between a car and a pedestrian.   Lawrence was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The circumstances of this case and the events leading up the fatal collision are under investigation.  Preliminarily, we know that there was an earlier collision between a car and a SUV at County Road and Marlboro Pike.  For reasons which remain under investigation, the two vehicles stopped at the location on Druid Place.  Lawrence who was a passenger in the SUV got out of the vehicle and was standing behind the other car when the driver of that car backed up and hit Lawrence.  The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and called 911.

Detectives are in the very early stages of the investigation, but anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.
